The Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy (MoCDE) today convened a daylong training session for government messengers from various ministries, focusing on the practical use of the National Digital Addressing System (NDAS).
The training, held at the MoCDE Conference Hall, brought together over a dozen participants who play a critical role in the daily delivery of official mail and services. For many, this was their first hands-on introduction to the country’s new digital addressing system—a tool designed to modernize the way government communicates and serves citizens.
Through interactive sessions, demonstrations, and real-life case examples, the training provided practical skills on how the digital addresses when carrying out official duties. Facilitators emphasized how NDAS reduces delivery delays and improves accuracy.
Speaking at the opening, DPS Technical Mr. Bass underscored the importance of the initiative:
“Digital Addressing is not just about technology, it’s about efficiency, accountability, and better service to the people of The Gambia. By training our messengers and drivers today, we are laying the foundation for smarter government services tomorrow.”
The training forms part of the Ministry’s wider efforts, aimed at embedding digital solutions into public administration. By empowering frontline staff such as messengers and drivers, MoCDE is ensuring that the benefits of digital transformation are felt where they matter most in the delivery of goods and services.
As the day concluded, participants expressed enthusiasm about applying what they had learned back in their ministries. With the adoption of NDAS, the government takes another step closer to achieving its vision of a more connected, inclusive, and efficient public service system.
